Digital Wallets

Apple Pay and Google Pay let your customers pay with a card saved to their device.

Digital Wallets can be enabled for your merchant account in the Dashboard if you have an active card rail and a supported processor.

Once a wallet is enabled, it appears wherever Synapto collects a card payment:

• Your own checkout, built with the JavaScript SDK
• Synapto's hosted checkout page, used by checkout sessions
• Hosted invoice payment pages

Enabling Digital Wallets

1. Go to Settings > Storefront in the Dashboard
2. Under Digital wallets, set Apple Pay or Google Pay to On

The list only shows the wallets your card processor is certified for. If the section is missing, or a wallet you expect is not in it, contact [email protected].

Requirements for Apple Pay

For Apple Pay to be presented as a payment option, the domain hosting the SDK must be verified with Apple.

Using the SDK

When using the SDK on your domain, you must register the domain in the Developer settings of the Dashboard.

1. Go to Settings > Developer in the Dashboard
2. Under Apple Pay domains, select Add domain and enter the hostname of your checkout page, for example checkout.example.com
3. Download the verification file and serve it at https://<your-domain>/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association
4. Select Register domain

The file has to be live before you register.

Register every hostname you take payments on. Registering example.com does not cover checkout.example.com.

Synapto's hosted pages

Checkout sessions and hosted invoices are served from Synapto's own domain, but must still be enabled in your merchant account.

1. Go to Settings > Developer in the Dashboard
2. Under Apple Pay domains, select Enable on the Synapto checkout page row

When a wallet does not appear

The option to pay with a digital wallet is only presented when the following is true:

• The account has an active card rail and its processor supports the wallet
• The wallet is On in Settings > Storefront
• The customer is making a payment, not saving a card. A setup intent shows the card form only
• The device is supported by the digital wallet

For Apple Pay:

• The domain hosting the SDK is verified with Apple, or is Synapto's checkout page with the row enabled. See Requirements for Apple Pay

Digital Wallets in Sandbox environments

Wallets are not available in sandbox by default. To enable Digital Wallets in your sandbox environment, contact [email protected].
